If youve been anywhere on social media lately, theres a high chance you will have seen the Tirtir Cushion Foundation all over your feed. Since its launch in 2016, the K-beauty brand has already achieved cult status, with influencers everywhere rushing to give the highly sought-after foundation a try. With the brand now available to shop at Boots, we were able to put it to the test to see if the foundation is actually worth it.
I tried out the Tirtir Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation, but is it really as good as people claim? Heres what I have to say about it, for anyone wanting to give it a go...
©Tirtir Tirtirs Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation is packed full of hyaluronic acid and botanical extracts to keep the skin looking moisturised and healthy, all while delivering exceptional coverage. It has a satin finish which is slightly on the glowy side, but also gives that natural, second skin look. The foundation works to smooth and even skin tone, blur pores, and conceal blemishes effortlessly.
Its definitely on the full coverage side, but despite this, its fairly lightweight and doesnt cake on the skin. The best thing is that the dermatologically tested foundation is breathable, so its supposedly suitable for sensitive and acne-prone skin types. A massive bonus for someone like me, then.
As far as wear goes, it apparently boasts up to 72 hours of long-lasting wear, with flawless, fade-resistant coverage, according to the brand. At one point, the foundation was so in demand, that more shades were requested from beauty bloggers to reflect a wider variety of skin tones. As a result, the brand now houses 40 different shades.
With hundreds of reviews and counting, and customers at Boots flocking to add it to their baskets, we wanted to investigate other reviewers claims that it really is the best foundation ever. After all, customers say that the coverage, finish and long-lasting power are unmatched, so we wanted to see if its worth the hype.

Read on for my honest thoughts...
My honest thoughts Id never tried a cushion foundation before, so I was curious, intrigued - and, admittedly - a little apprehensive to give the foundation a go myself. When I was testing my shade, the shade match finder wasnt available on-site, so it took a combination of watching YouTube videos and using the TikTok shade match filter to land on a close shade.
I was matched as 17C Porcelain. When the product arrived and I swatched it on my face, I breathed a massive sigh of relief. Despite looking warm in the pan, the shade blended seamlessly into my skin. The first, initial thing I noticed? The coverage. I was absolutely GOBSMACKED at the level of coverage that this foundation offered. Wow, oh wow.
©Samantha Price You need very little product on the applicator to get the most unreal amount of coverage, and I quickly made short work of any stubborn blemishes. In fact, any redness practically disappeared. Concealer wasnt even a necessity, so if you love a high-coverage foundation, I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.
I will say that, while getting an exact shade can be difficult because the foundation tends to oxidise - when you do, youve struck absolute gold. This foundation is incredibly impressive, and I was shocked that my skin looked airbrushed beyond belief, like an Instagram filter in a compact.
Admittedly, it can feel a little heavy against the skin, but I honestly dont mind this as it doesnt look cakey when applied. Plus, it lasted me 12 hours of wear without any touch-ups, and, it still managed to look just as good as when I applied it. Mind? Blown.
How the product was tested To begin with, I apply a hyaluronic acid serum and then the NYX Plump Right Back Primer, a water-based solution that perfectly compliments the Tirtir Cushion Foundation. Then, I go in with Tirtir Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation in shade 17C Porcelain using the applicator in the compact.
I work in small sections, pushing the applicator lightly into the foundation and working any excess into the back of the black disc before applying it to my face. I use short, quick motions to press and dab the foundation into my skin, covering it all over.
©Samantha Price For context, below is the foundation applied purely as it is over the top of the NYX Plump Right Back Primer, without any concealer (incredible, we know!). However, with it having a dewy, satin finish, I set with the Rimmel Match Perfection Transparent Loose Powder to combat any shine. Since then, I have tried it with the RCMA No-Colour Powder, and find it better suited to the foundation instead.
©Samantha Price Despite not necessarily needing concealer due to it being a high-coverage foundation, I do tend to apply the LOreal Paris 24H Infallible Concealer to problem areas - under my eyes, on any redness and along my jawline for definition after contouring. Below is my finished look with a full face of the Tirtir Cushion Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation, exactly how I would wear it for a daytime look.
©Samantha Price What we loved Ive tried a fair share of foundations from various brands, but here are just a few reasons why I love the Tirtir Cushion Foundation so much, and why Im definitely going to be restocking when I run out.
• Unbelievable coverage with very little product: The level of coverage is mind-blowing. You need very little product for the foundation to cover stubborn blemishes. Seriously. You can even skip out on the concealer with this one.
• Gives a flawless, airbrushed finish: Honestly, this foundation photographed really nicely for me and it even looked like I was wearing a filter. The coverage and finish are that good. The foundation comes in quite a satiny finish, so do expect something a little more glowy. Oily skin types might want to prime and set accordingly.
• Handy to use, travel-friendly case that comes with an applicator: I love that this foundation is easy to travel with, making touch-ups or applying on the go really handy. It comes inside a compact with its own applicator and mirror, meaning that the packaging is incredibly travel-friendly. Throw in your bag and go.
• Longlasting wear with little touch-ups: I wore it for 12 hours on a night out and, I have to say, this is possibly the longest-lasting foundation Ive worn yet. It required very little touch-ups and still looked fresh at the end of the night.
What could be better Despite this foundation being one of my new firm favourites, here are some things to note when it comes to testing out the Tirtir Cushion Foundation.
• Shade matching could be easier: Unfortunately, the shade match tool wasnt available on-site when I was matching my shade. Instead, I used the TikTok filter and watched YouTube videos to get my correct shade. The shade I was matched with was pretty accurate, if not the slightest bit warm by a margin.
• Shade can oxidise and become warmer over time: The shade match looks fantastic against my face, but Ive noticed that it does have the potential to dry down slightly warmer through time. As you can see in the picture below, the foundation looks warm against my wrist - however, on application, it actually blends really quite well.
©Samantha Price Final verdict All in all, I absolutely loved the Tirtir Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation. When I first applied it, I was shocked by the level of coverage this little compact could offer. Blemishes were practically invisible, and concealer wasnt necessary either. I wore this foundation on a night out and I have to say, this is possibly the longest-lasting foundation Ive ever tried. Honestly, I am massively, massively impressed and I wouldnt hesitate to restock this in my beauty bag.
FAQs How to apply the Tirtir Cushion Foundation?
Before applying, make sure that your skin is cleansed and then hydrated using a hyaluronic acid serum or a similar product. You can apply a primer at this point if you want (Ive had the best result from one with a serum-like texture), wait for it to dry, and then begin applying your foundation. Open the compact, remove the applicator and then lightly push the applicator into the foundation. Now, youre going to get a lot of product and a lot of coverage, so to avoid going in too heavy, makeup vloggers have suggested working the product into the back of the black disc on the inside of the compact before applying. When you think youve gotten rid of the excess, begin working in small sections over your entire face. The key is to lightly press the product into your skin in small areas. To blend, avoid dragging the sponge across your face. Simply pat and dab it in, and, if you need more of a blend, lightly go over the areas with a brush or beauty blender. When youve finished applying your base, finish the rest of your makeup routine. You may want to apply a powder over the top along with a setting spray to encourage it to last longer.
What primer to use with the Tirtir Cushion Foundation?
Having done my research from fellow beauty writers and vloggers, apparently, the best type of primer to use with this foundation is one with a serum-like texture. Some even recommend using a hyaluronic acid, waiting for it to dry and then going in with your foundation. The primer I used was the NYX Plump Right Back Primer + Serum.
What powder to use with the Tirtir Cushion Foundation?
Again, from my research, a lot of K-beauty doesnt necessarily involve setting with a powder. There is a lot of coverage with the foundation, so you might find a powder isnt exactly necessary. However, the Tirtir Cushion Foundation does have a satin finish which is slightly glowy, and may transfer to an extent, so I set it with a powder. For the pictures, I used the Rimmel Match Perfection Powder. But, Ive had the best results with the RCMA No-Colour Powder, so would recommend this instead.
How to find your shade match with the Tirtir Cushion Foundation?
If you want to find your shade in the Tirtir Cushion Foundation, theres a shade match finder on the Tirtir website, or a filter you can use on TikTok that allows you to work out your best shade. Shade matching can be tricky, but Tirtir does offer shade trial kits so that you can get your ideal match.
