I tried Palmer’s viral shimmer body oil – and my skin has never been more glowy

Whether you’re jetting off on holiday this summer or staying put in the UK – let’s face it, we’re all looking for our skin to give us that post-holiday glow 24/7 (without the sun damage). Thankfully, Palmers have heard our prayers and have literally created that glowy holiday skin in a bottle with their new Shimmer Radiance Body Oil, £10.99.

Chances are if you’re on TikTok, you’ll have definitely seen this pop up on your FYP. Having released in the US last year to rave reviews, we’ve been (impatiently) waiting to get our hands on it here in the UK – and now it’s finally out in time for summer.

As a self-confessed fake tan lover, I was so excited to put this oil to the test and see what all the fuss is about. Whilst it isn’t strictly a self-tanner, this body oil does give your skin a golden glow.

Priced at just £10.99, this oil is super affordable and dare I say a dupe for the ever-popular Nuxe Shimmering Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, £22 or the Sol De Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Body Oil, £35.

Palmers Shimmer Radiance Oil: My honest thoughts In the past I’ve been hesitate about using body oils, particularly body oils with shimmer added to them, due to their often-greasy feeling on the skin. However, after trying this Shimmer Radiance Body Oil – I’m officially converted. I applied it to my arms, neck and chest and it left the loveliest bronzy glow without feeling sticky. My collar bones were literally reflecting the light(!). It was easy to blend in and instantly smoothed out my skin giving it an almost blurred effect.

In true Palmers fashion it has their classic cocoa scent which leaves your skin smelling delicious all day. One of the main deal breakers with this would be if it transfers or not. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.

©Closer I wore this oil with a baby pink top for a good eight hours and found it hardly transferred whatsoever – only the tiniest bit around my collar which we can look past. I think the key to ensuring as little transfers as possible is to make sure that it fully dries down before putting your clothes on. I have seen a few TikTok users complain of transferring, but they had put their clothes on immediately after application and didn’t give it enough time to dry down – which I really think is crucial here.

If you prefer a more silver-toned hue to your skin, Palmers has released another product in the Shimmer Radiance range – the Shimmer Radiance Body Gloss, £10.99. I tried this out too and loved it almost just as much. I tend to prefer a glowy, gold toned hue to my skin as I have warmer undertones, but I definitely think people with cooler toned skin will prefer this.

Let’s just say, both of these products will be beach bag essentials this summer for us.
