ESPO

Automotive Fuels And Heating Oils

ESPO is a brand of Siberian oil supplied via the Eastern Siberia — Pacific ocean (ESPO) pipeline. It is considered that the quality of ESPO oil is higher than that of the middle East. This brand of oil is supplied to Asian countries, as well as to the West coast of the United States.

According to American standards, the density of one of the mixtures based on oil supplied through ESPO, called ESPO Blend, is 34.8 degrees API with a sulfur content of 0.62 % (up to 0.53 %), while Dubai oil is much more sulfurous — 2.0% with a density of 31 degrees API.

Urals (a Russian brand of export oil mix) is obtained by mixing heavy, high-sulfur oil from the Urals and the Volga region in the pipeline system of Transneft (the sulfur content in which reaches 3.0 %, and the density in API degrees does not exceed 26-28) with light West Siberian oil Siberian Light.

The total sulfur content in Urals grade oil is 1.2 %, the density in API degrees is 31-32. Analysts believe that ESPO has very good prospects in the Pacific market, due to its high quality and short transport arm.
